I’d like to wish my husband and my dad a Happy Father’s Day. I know there are people out there who can’t do that, so I changed the title of this piece. Parenting is a hard task no matter who undertakes it. We constantly question ourselves and wonder if we are doing the right thing, saying the right thing and behaving in a manner that we would want repeated by our children. Sometimes we make mistakes. Sometimes we knock it out of the park, or in my husband’s case, we make a goooooaaaalllll. Ahem, soccer fans get this.
I could tell countless stories of how my husband and my father have helped me over the years, but I hope they know how much they are loved and appreciated. So today, tell that special parent in your life how much they mean to you. Just a simple thank you for being there will do.
“Even if society dictates that men and women should behave in certain ways, it is fathers and mothers who teach those ways to children not just in the words they say, but in the lives they lead.” ~Augustus Y. Napier
